One of the biggest and most common misconceptions about building a website is that it costs a lot of money to do.  What people need to know, though, is that this just isn’t true at all!  With the tools available on the internet these days creating your own website has never been easier.

In this article, I’m going to show you not only how to build your own website for free, but also how to do it in a very short amount of time.  In fact, following my instructions will allow you to build your website in less than a minute!

Before I show you what I’m talking about I think it’s important to go over a few reasons why people think building their own website takes so much money and/or time.  Let’s get started.

Common Website Creation Misconceptions

I think there are 3 major misconceptions out there that do need to be addressed before we go over how to build your own site for free.  These misconceptions are:

  • You need to hire a web developer to build your site for you
  • You need to know how to program/script in all sorts of web languages like HTML, CSS, PHP, and javascript
  • You found some great tools that allow you to build a site in a short time without being a programmer but those tools aren’t free or even low in price.

So let’s talk briefly about these three items.

You Need A Web Developer

Long ago this might have been the only answer for those that didn’t have the programming skills needed to build their own website.  The market was flooded with PHP programmers that were offering their services at extremely high prices.

For some reason, there is still a large number of individuals that still think this is the only answer and of course there are many eager programmers out there ready to do an easy job for you while charging $100’s if not $1,000’s to build your site.

I’m telling you right now, you don’t need to waste your time with a web developer.  Save your money for a nice steak dinner or a night out at the movies.  Something fun and enjoyable!

You Need To Know Web Programming Languages

This is another one of those long ago type of scenarios.  Basically, you had two options at the time.  Hire someone like the guys I mentioned in the previous section, or learn to do it all yourself.

This usually consists of spending hours online finding tutorials to help you do whatever it is you are trying to do.  It also very well will require you to go out and spend money on books about web programming and design, which then takes time to read through.

After you got done with your reading, you might need to shell out more money on development and design software.  These programs will have some sort of learning curve to them, which takes up more of your day.

As you can see, this option is a huge timesink.  While it might not cost you as much as hiring someone to build the site for you, it definitely makes up for that hard earned money with the amount of time you will be spending learning how to do all of it yourself.

You Will Have To Use Some Expensive Website Builder Tool

As internet technology and understanding have progressed, the need for a website to be able to adapt and make changes very quickly.  The amount of money invested in information and getting it out to the public makes these immediate changes to a website extremely important.

The natural progression of web development has moved to template websites and drag and drop functionality.  It has given users the ability to make changes or add content to their web pages on the fly with little to no programming experience.

This technology is still relatively new and like any product that is new and in demand, you will see a price tag attached to it, sometimes a large price tag.  The problem is that there are now enough tools available and they are pretty well matched in terms of features that selling the use of these tools is beginning to make less sense.

It is far more common to see the sales more towards the domain and hosting while bundling in the use of a site builder as a feature to draw in a wider range of customers.

Ok, So How DO We Build A Website For Free?

After spending a lot of my own time doing all the above things I finally found one place that offered not only a FREE website building tool, but also offered free domains and hosting for 2 websites.  It only took me a few seconds to sign up on their website and didn’t even require any payment information.

So follow this link to get started by signing up.  When that is all done and you are on the main page, use the navigation panel on the left and click on Site Rubix, then Site Builder in the sub-menu.

This will then take you to the Site Setup page where you just have to complete 4 simple steps.  You will want to make sure you choose the free website option in step 1, then just add your new website’s title in step 2, select a theme is step 3, and click on step 4 to set your site up.

That is basically all that you need to do!  In under a minute or so your website will be setup, you will be given your login credentials to the WordPress backend where you do all your administrative work for the site, and you are good to go.

To demonstrate and help walk you through the process I created a short 5-minute video.  I recommend you watch it to see just how easy this really is!

Once you are done with all of what we just went over you are ready to start adding whatever content you want to your new website.  Having the ability to do all of this stuff in just a few minutes while costing literally nothing is pretty cool!

Wrapping Things Up

Hopefully you know not only have your own website up and running but you also understand just how easy it really is.  The reality that you can do all of this yourself, with no prior experience, for no cost is pretty amazing.

I also hope that you have a better understanding of why those common misconceptions for building a website are completely unnecessary to reaching your goals.  No need to waste your valuable time and money on those things!
