Curious about what it takes to start your own online business? Maybe you have decided to take the plunge but aren’t sure where to start?
Before we get started, you should know that there are many ways to start your business, but only a few actually work and even fewer are free. In fact, most of them fail. In this post, I’m not only going to show how to do it for free but also how to get it right the first time as well.
I’ve been involved with online marketing for some time now and I have experienced both great successes and also a large amount of failure. What I’ve learned during my time with online marketing is that anyone, whether they be rich or poor, old or young, can start and run a business online.
The reality is that you only need 3 things to run an online business:
1. An idea you are passionate about
The key to starting all of this is an idea. That idea becomes your niche, which is basically just a certain interest shared among a group of people. When you find that niche or interest, you can build your business around it and sell a product that suits the needs of that particular group.
This is pretty much how every business works! Take a look at any single business that exists, offline or online. Now think about what they do?
The answer is that they fill a certain need for whatever people have that need. The purpose of this? If a business provides a consumer with what they want, and they do it through a niche, it is that much more likely to sell. That is what an online business’ main goal is!
If you are having trouble with your niche, I recommend this:
Ask yourself if there is any particular interest, hobby, or expertise in some field that you feel passionate about. If there is, what is it? It doesn’t matter what it is. It could be molecular science or bug collecting, so long as you possess knowledge in that field, you can turn it into an online business.
So what if you really have NO ideas for a niche? Don’t worry, that’s ok too. There are tons of people who don’t have a niche! For those that fall into this category, I would recommend you start with affiliate marketing.
Basically, with affiliate marketing, you can just pick one specific niche and gain experience through it. Later, if you find that niche interesting, stick with it. If you don’t find it interesting, you can just move over to another niche you might find more interesting. The great thing about affiliate marketing is that you will still gain knowledge which can be used when you move over to your new interest.
2. A Website
If you have looked into building a website, you probably have seen a lot of ads from companies or individuals offering to build that perfect website for you. Here’s the thing, most of the “experts” will charge you $100’s if not $1,000’s to build you a website, but really they are just ripping you off.

The truth is, the ability to make a website has become SO much easier and the price to make them has decreased immensely and in some cases even become free. With the right platform and a few clicks, you can create a professional looking website in a minute or less. I’m not kidding, it’s that fast and easy.
For instance, this page you are on is an example of a website for an online business. I would say that there isn’t anything super special about it and I created it rather easily using this method. The fact is, anyone can do this too.
There are a lot of tools or web designers out there who can do it for you, but the method I linked to is what I use and also recommend. It’s free and very simple to use. I suggest you check it out.
3. Proper training
With proper training, you learn the right way to start and run an online business. This means building it, from the ground up, and monetizing it in a way to provide you with a stable income.
In order for this to happen, you need to learn what works and what doesn’t work from a place that knows this subject inside and out.

- Because of how much more opportunity there is online, this translates to much less competition as well. You can make a name for yourself fairly easily if you put in the work.
- A lot less red tape. Less paperwork, taxes, and regulations, which gives you a LOT of freedom in the industry.

There is no reason why you can’t start and run a successful online business if you have these three things. I will tell you now, I have encountered many scams, and had many times that I fell flat on my face and wanted to quit. The only reason I didn’t give up was due to the fact that I had the will to succeed. Utilizing this same guidance that I am now recommending to you, I did succeed.
